This apple counting busy bag combines both number practice and fine motor skills! It helps with numeral identification (the clothespins are numbered), counting, and one-to-one correspondence.
Make the Apple Counting Set
Draw apples on the craft stick. We are playing with early counting numbers, so I made craft sticks with one apple through ten apples. On clothespins, I wrote the numbers 1 through 10.
Then set out the clothespins and the craftsticks, and your child will clip the clothespin to the craft stick with the matching number of apples.
If setting out all ten sticks is overwhelming, try setting out just three or four at a time. You can also add clothespins with the written words for the numbers when your child is practicing reading numbers!
