Family Game Night is one of our favorite traditions. With our active little guys, we find that games that allow them to get moving are usually a success. These are some of our favorite active games, along with a couple that I’m thinking about adding to our collection! (The links below are Amazon affiliate links)
Our Favorite Active Board Games
Cranium Hullabaloo : We’ve pulled this one out many a playdate! Work on listening and classification as you bounce, jump, and crawl around the room.
Cat in the Hat I Can Do That! Game: This game pairs objects from the Cat In the Hat (mother’s dress, the goldfish bowl) and actions, creating actions like “tiptoe to the door carrying mother’s dress under your arm.”
Richard Scarry Busy, Busy Airport Game: Place the destination cards around the room, and roll the dice to see how many passengers and destinations you can visit. This is my kindergartener’s favorite game! It also has a hard-to-find combination in that it’s both active (flying the plane to the destinations) and works on fine motor skills (placing the players into the plane).
Boochie Ball Game: This game is one we play in our basement – you do need to have some room in order to play, as it involves tossing balls! The object is to get your colored ball the closest to the boochie ball – with extra points offered for things like throwing on your back or while making a sound effect!
Other Active Board Games
I just found out about these two games, so they haven’t made it into our collection yet, but they look like they’d lead to a lot of laughs!
Wiggle & Giggle Ball Balancing Game: Anything involving balls and wiggling and giggling is pretty much guaranteed to be a success in our house!
Crazy Legs Board Game: This game looks silly – and like it could be a great solution for how to stay active when it’s cold and wet outside!
