Body motion games are our favorite way to play on gaming systems. They are super fun for family game night and get everyone up, on their feet. The games get kids (and adults!) moving in multiple directions, laughing, and playing together. We were thrilled that our sponsor, Kurio, has come out with the Kurio Xtreme, a tablet for kids – the only tablet that includes body motion games! Your body movements control the action in the games. The Kurio Xtreme includes 10 body motion games, including races, sports games, and even alphabet games. Instead of sitting in one position while they played with the tablet, the kids were bouncing, jumping, punching, and twisting. My kids were moving and many of the activities involved crossing the finish line – a definite win! Out of the box, the device comes pre-loaded with tons of apps and activities. After a quick setup process (ours took fewer than 10 minutes) kids were up and running with the tablet. The pre-loaded body motion games use the front camera to show your child playing in the game itself! My kids got a real kick out of seeing themselves in the game, playing the game! Of course, because the Kurio Xtreme is aimed at kids, there are many safety features built in. This tablet is Wi-Fi enabled, so we could easily connect it to our home network. In the Parental Area, which is password protected, you can set time restraints and limit web access for up to 8 user profiles (enough for the whole family!). The last thing any parent wants is for their child to stumble across inappropriate content online, so Kurio has provided a secure and browser-independent ‘Kurio Genius’ Internet filtering system with security levels covering over 500 million websites and in-app web filtering. In addition to the body motion games, the Kurio Xtreme is packed with lots of the games and apps kids want, including Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride, Cut the Rope 2 and Subway Surfer! And you can do all the other stuff you love about tablets, including take pictures, play music, email friends and family, and take videos. For more information, check out Kurio Xtreme’s website – it would make an awesome holiday gift! It comes in blue (our choice, pictured above), and in pink. Plus it’s a great road trip companion. So if you’re traveling for the holidays, the kids will be able to use it on the ride back home! I know I’m planning to pack it on our upcoming plane trip!
