I’m so happy C got to “meet” the duckling statues that waddle for kids of all ages in the Public Garden in Boston. These are statues of the ducklings in Robert McCloskey’s timeless Make Way For Ducklings. This book is a family favorite, and both of my little guys had a blast playing with the statues.
Of course, I have to include a pic from G’s 2012 visit! This time he overheard a tour of a group of French speaking tourists. From what we could gather (not being French speaking), the guide told the tourists that the ducklings were being led by “Mother Goose.” G became indignant and yelled, “No, it’s Mrs. Mallard! Mom, he said it was Mother Goose, but it’s not, right?” He then proceeded to list all the ducklings- Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouak, Pack, and Quack. The kid knows his McCloskey!
C crawled all over the ducks. He threw his hands up in the air, and clapped and laughed. And he doesn’t even sit through the entire story yet. Wait until he knows all about the Mallard family’s adventures!
Ok, even big kids love to pose with the ducklings!
