Our Move & Learn activity for this week involves both reading and math concepts. We did a run and sort activity, of course using our favorite toy, Legos.
Set Up the Lego Reading Game
As always, this game is simple to set up! I wrote the names of several colors in black marker on pieces of paper. I used black so that the color the words were written in wouldn’t be confusing when the kids were trying to sort the bricks. Then I put a big pile of bricks in the center of the cards.
The words we used were mostly new, so we reviewed them together before doing the activity. Colors are words that come up a lot in our books, but mostly not ones we’ve isolated to focus on before.
Once my kindergartner identified the colors, his little brother was very eager to join in on the sorting fun!
