Need a last minute Thanksgiving craft idea? Try making a paper plate turkey!
Making Paper Plate Turkey
- small paper plate
- large paper plate
- paint – brown, green, yellow, red, orange
- white craft foam
- paintbrush (or roller)
- googly eyes
- red and yellow construction paper
- red marker
Cut the craft foam into 4 large feathers, the yellow paper into a beak (a long diamond), and the red paper into a waddle.
Then it’s time for paint! First the kids paint the bottoms of both plates brown. While it’s drying, paint the feathers (we decided to use green, yellow, red, and orange paint.
Staple the small plate onto the large plate, both brown-side up. The small plate is the turkey’s head, and the large plate is the turkey’s body. Then staple the feathers around the back of the large plate.
Put on the googly eyes (we used eyes with adhesive backing on them). Then staple the beak and the waddle. We also drew a little turkey tongue inside the beak.
