Sight Word Activity: Word Castle

Make a Word Castle: Learn sight words with LEGO bricks

We try to turn learning sight words into games. After we played our LEGO reading game, my son began building a castle – and LEGO word castle was created!

It’s a simple game (I know, big surprise!). We stuck 2 LEGO bricks together, and put a piece of masking tape on the side. Then we wrote the words we are learning onto the tape.

We insert the bricks wherever we want, sometimes naming the words as we go, sometimes after they are in the wall (or sometimes both!). We also create word family towers, or put words together to form fun sentences, like “call bat man” (my kindergartner’s current favorite).
