Giving to others is one of the best parts of the holiday season. It’s the part that makes you feel warm and snuggly inside. It’s this feeling that creates such fun memories.
Our sponsor, Capital One, wants to help make someone else’s wish come true with their #WishForOthers event.
My son has been having a hard time understanding that there are children out there who do not have what he has – the warmth, the clothes, the food. But (because he is 6) what he really can’t understand is that there are children who do not have as many toys or books. His #WishForOthers is that children who get food from the local food bank will receive books and toys for Christmas.
He is donating some of his own money and his own toys and books to brighten another child’s holiday. But my favorite effort of his is that he is hard at work creating books to give away. He gets out cardstock, markers, and paper, and writes and illustrates stories he makes up. Of course, these are not going to be books that are wrapped up and given to children for the holidays. But I bet that they would be the kind of thing that would make someone at the food bank or a local retirement home smile.
Share your wish for a loved one, a friend, a neighbor, or a community — with #WishForOthers on Twitter or Instagram, or on the Capital One Facebook Page from Nov. 24 through Dec. 23 for a chance to make it come true! For all the details check out Wish For Others. Stop by one of Capital One’s wishing booths this weekend and submit your #WishForOthers for a chance to make it happen!
